Holiday Gifts for Dogs

December 15, 2019

Have you finished your holiday shopping yet? Or are you a last-minute panic shopper? Either way, your canine companion may very well get extra excited when you come home with packages. Don’t forget to get something for Fido! Read on as a local Coles County, IL vet lists some great gifts for Man’s Best Friend.

Bed

Has your pooch flattened his bed? A new one would be a great gift! Orthopedic beds are an excellent choice for large breeds and senior dogs. If your furry pal has a thin coat, he may also appreciate a thermal blanket or heated bed.

Toys

Toys are very important to your Fido’s health and well-being. They also make great stocking stuffers! Just be sure to choose things that are appropriate for your canine buddy’s age and size.

Pet Ramps

Is your canine pal a small dog, or a senior? If so, pet ramps or stairs will help him get in and out of the car and—assuming he’s allowed—climb on and off the bed and sofa.

Treats

If there’s one thing that is guaranteed to get Fido’s cute tail going, it’s the thought of a yummy snack. Store-bought goodies are fine, but if you like cooking, you can also make your pup’s treats. You’ll find lots of great recipes online. You can also make your own. Just stick to ingredients that are safe for dogs.

Grooming Supplies

Take advantage of seasonal sales and pick up some doggy supplies. Shampoos, pet wipes, clippers, and paw balm all make great stocking stuffers. Dental products are also a good choice. Of course, Fido probably won’t get very excited about these things, so offer him some toys and treats as well.

Mechanical Ball Launcher

Is chasing tennis balls Fido’s favorite thing ever? Why not get him a mechanical ball launcher? Of course, you may want to wait until spring for this one.

Jacket

Does Fido have thin fur? If so, he will be more comfortable with a doggy jacket on when it’s really cold out. Make sure your furry friend’s clothes fit well, and are not tight, hot, or restricting.

Subscription Box

Want to keep that cute tail going all year? Sign Fido up for his own pupscription box!
